Working with CEO’s, Top Executive’s of regional B2B and B2C businesses, Real Estate Brokers & Agents, Mortgage Professionals, Restaurant Owners, all the way to the small business owners, you hear the same thing when talking to them about their social media presence:

    • No time,
    • Too time consuming,
    • Don’t understand how it works or how to use it,
    • It’s for kids,
    • It’s just for dating,
    • And my favorite – my wife & kids are on all the time.

All those reasons for not using social media are not good enough for staying away. If all of the Fortune 1000 companies have a presence with Social Media, so should you.

Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn are the place to start. If you already have accounts, great; if not, get them.

Keep coming back and we can talk about how to use them to your advantage.

    Mistakes Made on Facebook

    Time sync
Facebook has a vast array of playful applications. You find yourself playing games, or testing out all kinds of applications. Limit your time on Facebook; distinguish between business time and personal time. Figure out how to measure your results.

    Lack of focus, clarity, direction
People sit in front of their computers implementing multiple tactics, one right after another, all based on the latest internet guru. Pick three to five excellent mentors whose results you admire and put their strategies into play. One other thing: don't get trapped in the “multiple-hat syndrome” where you are doing everything. One of the types of items that we had scattered throughout the portal in Articles and forum postings was video. We embedded video within an article or forum posting, but it was not something that the average member would do because it was a bit complicated. We did know however that video is a great way to learn and communicate a message. So in November we added a new Media center. This allows any member to add video that can be seen by other members as well as the general public.

Members can upload a video to be hosted on the AAN Portal or they can copy the little codes from YouTube so those videos can be seen on the portal. So if you see a great video on YouTube that you want to share with business associates, you can display it on the portal instead and send them a link there. Maybe they’ll ask more about this American Agent Network thing.

We have just added a couple of new features that are a precursor of things to come. These features allow you to publish content from the portal out to your personal business builder web site.

My Site Link (Video) – This will is a way for you to send a video link that takes the recipient to your Business Builder web site. Here are a couple of examples.

The second link is video gathered from YouTube. So the content is not limited to something created by you or another member. It can be any one of the millions of videos from YouTube that someone (maybe you) has added into our portal. So next time you see a video that you want to pass along to one of your friends or clients, add it to the portal, then send them a link from your business builder web site.
